Being quiet can be so loud

What does it mean to be quiet and listen to GOD?

Proverbs 3: 5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Sometimes the world can be is so loud, that it seems you are drowning in everyone else's voices. So much talk, podcasts, TV, online, friends and family, It seems like you can only really listen to one thing or one person at a time, but the voices and images hit you like waves crashing against your spirt.

You feel directionless, lost, hearing what is wrong in the world all the time, and the good news, just doesn't seem to apply to you. There are so many voices fighting for your attention, how do I choose?

Being quiet is not just sitting in a space and hearing GOD. It may take all you have and sacrificing even those you love for your own sanity and salvation, by shutting down completely and finding your way through the darkness.

I personally found myself at a crossroads. Losing people I knew, loved and cared for and realizing I was stuck in my own world. Walking a path "I" thought was right, although I initially thought I was GOD Driven. So I shut it. down, all the way down. Closed up my social media, walked away from people and spent months with myself just waking up and appreciating life, but most importantly taking time to hear GOD.

Funny the quieter you are the louder people can be, the louder the clearer the voices are. The people who mean well, are taking your energy and siphoning your spirit. Weeding out those who don't understand the silence and choose to walk away because you don't give "Them" time to those hear your silence and say 'talk when you are ready"

What is silence?

  1. Place yourself in an environment that helps you concentrate.

During Covid many of us are in the house with family members everyday. Not getting an opportunity to find the "alone" time needed to communicate with GOD. But before you sleep or as you wake, outdoors or a moment before you step out of a room. Talk to GOD, concentrate on hearing his word and speak life to yourself and know that GOD hears you. Even if its 10 min a day, it's in that moment that you listen.

2. Take a break

Take a break from the news, from social media, from TV. You may have to tell a few friends that you will talk to them in time, but you need take a break from all the noise.

3. Surrender

Stop. Be silent. Listen. , "until day dawns and the morning star rises" in our hearts (2 Peter 1:19) No matter how hard we try not to, we still keep getting in our own way. Finding solutions to problems, by creating bigger ones. Feeling lost and unable to find a way out of darkness. But GOD fights for us constantly. It’s hard to embrace silence when everything and everyone around you is speaking. It’s even harder when silence is around you, but noise carries on within you.

Surrender your woes and know your voice is within you. That you are heard and favored and worthy of the precious life that you are given.

Those that understand why you removed yourself for time will never leave you and those that walked away when you needed to step aside, were not meant to be in your presence. Let GOD lead you and let faith guide you.
